Dulce is most known for helping her clients understand the outcome they want, and their mindset (beliefs of themselves and values).
These are the same strategies Dulce used with hundreds of families to develop their self-regulation and executive function skills. What is the client choosing to focus on. Is where you put your attention supporting the outcome you want? What steps are you going to take and how do you want your accountability to look?
One thing about Dulce that really impressed me, which she’ll tell you more about shortly, is her story with how she got involved in working with kids diagnosed with ADHD. Her commitment to understanding and helping kids and adults with ADHD is palpable.
We know Executive Functions are the mental skills we use to manage our daily life. They included working memory, mental flexibility and self-control.
We know medication helps to create dopamine and norepinephrine in our brain that helps with focus, attention, impulsivity and hyperactivity. However, medications do not teach skills.
In order for the student to maximize the potential benefits of the medication, he / she needs to understand what mental skills are their strengths or weaknesses. Learn the strategies and techniques that will help me improve the areas of challenging and with daily practice and consistency the student creates new habits for the rest of their life.
In this workshop, Dulce Torres will talk about the impact self emotional regulation has in a person’s life (i.e. home, school, friends, socially).
Dulce will show us how to use a few tools to create self-awareness about our ADHD, how to regulate emotions by noticing our triggers, thoughts, emotions and behaviors, and how to create an Outcome Action Plan.
