Dr. George McCloskey - Helping Adolescents With ADHD Learn How To Improve Self-Regulation

Dr. McCloskey has developed a comprehensive model of executive functions that applies to all children, adolescents, and adults and can be used to guide assessment and intervention efforts with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD.

Dr. McCloskey has helped many individual clients overcome self-regulation difficulties and has consulted with numerous school districts across the country to develop educational practices that strengthen students’ self-regulation capabilities.

Dr. McCloskey has been invited to share his ideas with professional groups in Canada, England, Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Columbia, Australia, Japan, and the Republic of China.

Dr. McCloskey shares knowledge from over 35 years of experience in test development, teaching, research and assessment and intervention work with a wide range of clients.

He covers a number of topics including but not limited to... The impact of ADHD on adolescent brain development. Specific bridging strategies for improving self-regulation. The self-regulation difficulties typically exhibited by adolescents diagnosed with ADHD.

Dr. McCloskey earned a BS in psychology, magna cum laude, and received the Departmental Award for Excellence in Psychology, from St. Vincent College in 1976. He obtained an MS in school psychology in 1979, and a Ph.D. in school psychology in 1985 from The Pennsylvania State University.

He has been a certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania and Florida and currently holds Diplomate status with the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology.

Dr. McCloskey has accumulated a broad range of work experiences in the field of psychology over the last 25 years. He has been involved in practical, direct service work in multiple settings, pre-service teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, teaching for continuing education and in-service purposes including presentations numbering in the hundreds for state, regional, and national, and international professional associations, research and test development in both university and corporate settings, and administration and supervision in clinical, university, and business settings.
