Dr. Manju Banerjee, Ph.D. & Dr. Adam Lalor Ph.D. – Online Learning for Students who Learn Differently: What Do We Currently Know and How Can We Become Better?

Dr. Banerjee is Vice President of Educational Research and Innovation at Landmark College, Putney, VT, with 35 years of experience in the field of learning disabilities. Dr. Banerjee is on the Executive Board of the Learning Disability Association of America, a Professional Advisory Board member to the National Center on Learning Disabilities (NCLD), and the Learning Disability Association of America.

Dr. Lalor received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut, with more than 10 years of experience in higher education administration. He has served on the Board of the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT). His recent work focuses on the transition of students with disabilities to and within higher education.

They’re going to share with you what we need to know about online learning, especially in the current special time, and how students with ADHD cope with it.

Something that impressed me about Dr. Banerjee is her straightforward suggestions by directly giving the answer that her audience is looking for. Something that impressed me about Dr. Lalor is his combination of both improving students’ competencies and raising the school’s awareness of this issue.

Nowadays, online or remote learning is the new normal for most students in higher education. As all are learning to pivot quickly to meet the current demands, some are better prepared than others.

It is often believed that the online platform is not “user friendly” to students who learn differently (LD), yet for the past seven years, Landmark College, has been offering online courses to high school students with executive function (EF) challenges as part of their successful online dual enrollment program.

Using our knowledge of LD student profiles and experience with online learning, this session will share information on how educators can develop online courses to meet the needs of ALL students.
